This was a collaborative branding project where we were tasked to design a new identity for our client, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, an art gallery on Appalachian State University’s campus. My collaborators and I were asked to create a new identity that was close in color to the original logo and that was still functional on many applications and scales. We created a logo that we felt embodied the connectivity the Turchin Center wanted to represent, and was fresh yet similar enough in color to the original design. Because many of the artists exhibiting work at the Turchin are Appalachian locals with work often historically charged, we created a pattern out of our final logo to reference Appalachian’s rich history in textiles.
